Amaravati, May 3: In a tragic road accident, two young men were burnt to death after their motorcycle caught fire following a collision with a car in Andhra Pradesh’s Anantapur district late on Saturday night.

The incident took place at Aravakuru Cheruvu Cross in Kuderu mandal along a national highway when a speeding Bolero vehicle coming from the opposite direction hit the motorcycle. The impact reportedly caused the bike’s fuel tank to burst, triggering a sudden blaze that engulfed the two-wheeler. The riders were trapped in the flames and died instantly at the scene.

After the initial collision, the car lost control and rammed into an autorickshaw, causing it to overturn. A passenger in the three-wheeler sustained critical injuries and was shifted to the government hospital in Anantapur for treatment.

Police identified the deceased as Ajit Kumar (20) and Akash (22), both residents of Vajrakaruru mandal. Officials traced their identities through the registration details of the motorcycle. The duo had reportedly been travelling to Anantapur town for work-related purposes.

Authorities said Akash, who was his parents’ only son, worked as a tractor driver, while Ajit was employed as a welder in their native village.

In a separate incident of road rage reported from Hyderabad’s outskirts, a man was allegedly carried on the bonnet of a moving car for nearly two kilometres following a road accident in Rangareddy district.

The incident occurred in Meerpet on Sunday after a motorbike carrying a man and his son was hit by a car. What began as an argument between the two parties reportedly escalated when the car driver allegedly assaulted the duo and attempted to flee.

In a bid to stop the vehicle, the motorcyclist clung to the bonnet, but the driver continued driving with him on the front of the car. Eyewitnesses said the vehicle travelled around two kilometres before returning to the accident site, after which the driver fled the scene amid public commotion.

The victim later approached the police and filed a complaint. Authorities have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident.
