Mangaluru, May 4: The three-day ‘Kanara Engineering Industrial Tech Expo 2026’, organized by the Canara Industrial Association, concluded on Sunday at the Karavali Utsav Grounds, marking a significant step towards strengthening industrial growth in the coastal region.

Addressing the valedictory function as the chief guest, deputy director of the department of youth empowerment and sports and Dakshina Kannada district skill development officer, Pradeep D’Souza, said that such industrial expos play a crucial role not only in boosting industries but also in creating employment opportunities for youth. He emphasized the need to retain local talent by providing job opportunities within the region.

Chartered accountant S S Nayak highlighted the lack of political support for industries in the coastal belt, stating that entrepreneurs are achieving success through sheer hard work. He noted that the Baikampady Industrial Area is the second-largest industrial zone in the state after Bengaluru but faces a shortage of land. He urged the government to allocate more land to support further industrial expansion.

President of the Canara Chamber of Commerce and Industry, P B Mudassir, said that the chamber has signed agreements with 30 organizations in the district. He pointed out that initiatives such as the Plastic Park, MSEZ, and new industrial layouts have brought renewed hope for industrial growth in Mangaluru. With strong connectivity through national highways, the port, airport, and railways, he expressed confidence that Mangaluru will emerge as a major industrial hub in the coming years.

In his introductory remarks, Canara Industrial Association president M D Poojari stated that the expo featured over 120 stalls and attracted more than 9,000 visitors. Participants from Bengaluru, Goa, Maharashtra, Chennai, and Kerala also took part. He added that efforts will be made to collaborate with industries from various states to enhance product quality and expand opportunities.

The event was presided over by joint director of the District Industries Centre, Gokuldas Nayak. Several dignitaries, including officials from the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board, Confederation of Indian Industry (Mangaluru), and other industrial associations, were present.

The expo showcased innovation, collaboration, and growth potential, reinforcing Mangaluru’s position as an emerging industrial destination.
