Mangalore: Eager Singers Fine-tune their Talent at 'Vocal Touch'

Mangalore, Mar 11: 'Vocal Touch' a workshop for singers on the art of healthy singing was organized by popular singer and vocal trainer Joseph Moras of Melodia Voice Studio, Dubai at Maria Jayanthi Mandir, Jeppu hereon Sunday March 11.

Fr Joseph Martis, rector of Jeppu Seminary introduced Moras, the resource person for the workshop.

In his address, Fr Joseph admired the ability of the resource person for his sublime quality of voice and his professional achievements in the world of music.

Lancy Martha welcomed the programme. A good number of participants were present on the occasion. It was an opportunity for aspiring singers in and around Mangalore to learn more about singing, said a participant.

Joseph Moras took over the day-long interactive session, which included warm ups, breathing exercises and training on diction to attain a healthy and professional style of singing. 

 

About Joseph Moras

Joseph (Jossie to the Mangalorean community) is a voice/singing  professional with over 20 years of experience as a singer, teacher and a  choral director. He began his music studies in India learning singing, guitar, violin and Carnatic vocal music with professional teachers from Mumbai, Bangalore and Mangalore. Later he continued his studies in Dubai earning specialization in advanced level vocal music and got himself qualified with an Associate Diploma (ATCL) and Licentiate Diploma (LTCL) in singing from the Trinity College London.

In the year 1989 Joseph began his music-teaching career in Mangalore, teaching  music in various colleges, convents and formation houses in Mangalore.  In Dubai he has trained musicians, singers and choirs in various educational and music institutes and also in special schools. Apart from teaching, he has performed in professional concerts and choirs in India and abroad. He has sung for over 30 audio productions with his unique touch in singing religious and sacred songs. His work as a singer and musician has taken him to France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Poland and Singapore.

Joseph currently works as a professional vocal coach and choral director, training singers and choirs in Dubai. He runs an exclusive voice training center - Melodia Voice Studio where he trains children and adults from various communities, schools and choirs. In addition to his profession as a voice voach and music educator, he travels around the region conducting voice workshops on the art of healthy singing. He has been adjudicating various singing competitions held in and around the Gulf region. He is the founder choral director for St Cecelia Children’s Choir at St Mary’s Catholic Church and Melodia Community Choir, Dubai.
