SJEC’s dept of business administration hosts ‘Zephyr- 2026’ national level UG & PG management fest

Mangaluru, May 6: The department of business administration at SJEC hosted ‘Zephyr- 2026’ with the theme Game of Thrones-Lead, Conquer & Rule, a one-day event on May 6 at Kalam Auditorium.

The programme began by seeking the blessings of the almighty through a prayer led by the MBA choir. Vincent Cutinha - managing director, Provit Foods Pvt Ltd, was the chief guest for the inauguration ceremony. Fr Wilfred Prakash D'Souza, director-SJEC, Dr Rio D'Souza, principal SJEC, Fr Kenneth Rayner Crasta, assistant director-SJEC, Dr Prakash Pinto, dean-MBA, Nelson Marwin Fernandes faculty convenor, Rahul Puthran and Vaishnavi Shetty, student coordinators were present for the programme.

Vaishnavi Shetty, student coordinator welcomed the gathering. Zephyr was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by all the dignitaries. Vincent Cutinha, the chief guest emphasized on leadership by highlighting the traits and characteristics of successful leaders. He also encouraged students to be courageous to make tough decision. He quoted saying, ‘Success is a journey and comes through repeated failures’ and concluded saying to accept oncoming opportunities without hesitation and encouraged students to take calculated risk.

Dr Rio D'Souza, principal, spoke about stating the meaning of Zephyr as a soft, gentle, or pleasant breeze, often described as a light, refreshing wind. He pointed up about rising after failing which can lead to enterprising. Dr Rio D'Souza handed over the token of gratitude to the chief guest.

Fr Wilfred Prakash D'Souza, the president of the programme gave the presidential remarks. He encouraged students to learn, grow and inspire people around them. He also stressed on being humble and quoted Peter Drucker’s statement as ‘Management is doing things right; leadership is doing the right thing’.

Rahul Puthran, 2nd year MBA, rendered the vote of thanks. Leesha Rodrigues and Lerina D’Souza of 2nd year MBA compered the event. The inauguration was followed by commencement of management events such as business quiz, best manager, HR, finance, marketing and many more. The fest received enormous response with all together 15 colleges participating from in and around Mangaluru.
