Udupi, May 6: Milagres Campus witnessed a significant and grace-filled moment as Fr Melwin Mendonca, SJ, officially assumed charge as the principal of Milagres Pre-University College, Kallianpur, on May 5. This occasion marked not merely a transition in leadership, but the beginning of a renewed journey for an institution rooted in a rich legacy spanning over six decades.
The installation ceremony was held in the presence of Fr Ferdinand Gonsalves, vice president of CESU and correspondent of Milagres PU College. Also present were Parish Pastoral Council representatives: Melwyn Sequeira (vice president), Gerald Pinto (managing committee member), and Eugine Rebello (secretary). The staff of Milagres PU College added to the warmth and significance of the gathering.














Addressing the assembly, Fr Ferdinand Gonsalves introduced the new principal as an accomplished and visionary leader in the field of pre-university education. Highlighting his extensive experience, he noted that Fr Melwin has served in seven institutions, including reputed colleges such as St Aloysius PU College, Mangaluru, and St Joseph’s PU College, Bengaluru. He commended Fr Melwin’s strong organizational skills and his ability to inspire and motivate both staff and students toward excellence.
In his response, Fr Melwin Mendonca expressed heartfelt gratitude to the management for their trust and for entrusting him with the responsibility of leading this esteemed institution. Acknowledging the proud legacy of Milagres PU College, he reaffirmed his commitment to building upon its strong foundation. He emphasized the importance of teamwork, collaboration, and a student-centered approach, noting that the growth of the institution depends on the collective efforts of all stakeholders.
On the occasion, Dr Vincent Alva, principal of Milagres College, along with the staff of the degree college, felicitated the new principal and extended their best wishes for his leadership and mission.
