Panic inside the police station
Fearing an impending arrest and severe charges under the stringent Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, a panicked Ramu allegedly swallowed a locker key inside the police station in an attempt to end his life. The unexpected and drastic act triggered panic among the seasoned police personnel on duty.
Unconventional medical intervention
The police immediately rushed the youth to a private hospital. After assessing the situation, doctors chose a non-invasive approach over surgery to retrieve the key. In an unusual course of treatment, Ramu was kept under strict medical and police observation and was fed nearly 10 kg of bananas over a span of three days. The heavy fruit diet was prescribed to aid the natural passage of the metallic object through his digestive system.
The unconventional method eventually yielded the desired result, and the key was successfully retrieved through natural excretion.
Sent to judicial custody
Following his recovery and discharge from the hospital, Ramu was produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody under the POCSO Act. Additionally, a separate case has been registered against him for his alleged suicide attempt inside the police station.
Further investigations into the missing minor's case are currently underway, officials confirmed.
