Mangalore, Mar 11: Kabaddi star Mamata Poojary, who led the Indian women's team to World Cup victory on March 4, was given a warm welcome at Mangalore airport where she landed on Sunday March 11 at 7.30 pm.

Mamata, daughter of Bhoja Poojary and Kitti Poojarti from Yennehole near Ajekar, Karkala, came home to hundreds of well-wishers and family members who were waiting at the airport to receive her.

Speaking to mediapersons, Mamata said that she was elated over the victory in the final match against Iran.

Stating that Kabaddi had changed her life, the Indian captain said that her next dream is to see the Indian team play and win a gold in the Olympics, where it may not be introduced before 2020.

Expressing confidence that she would continue to play for the country, she thanked her coaches over the years for evoking an interest for the game in her and encouraging her all the way.

She lamented that girls from rural areas do not get the right opportunities to exhibit their talent in Kabaddi, adding that she was one of the few lucky ones to make it to the national team.

Apart from her parents, her brother Vishwanath and sister Madhura were also present, along with legislative assembly deputy speaker Yogish Bhat and mayor Gulzar Banu.

Sachin Poojary, Mangalore/Mangalore i agree with you. This news cannot be compared with BJP or congress. This is just a general sports news. So all have to wish her together like a good human being and not in support of BJP or Congress. Also regarding supporting political parties BJP or Congress it's their own choice and we debate only with regards to some topic and it's off course not any personal. Also when it comes to politicians also i have seen politicians from the respective parties have only political differences and not any personal differences. I have seen many times people from different political parties especially in our DK districts friendly with each other on several occasions by leaving all their political disputes aside.. That clearly shows that those politicians only have political differences and not any personal differences. So Sachin Poojary whatever you commented is 100% correct. I liked it very much.

    My dear friend,
    Koni Prakash Naik, Kundapur, Muscat

Don't play Cheap politics over here.

We all writers here, will always have political debate in most of the political issues displayed by daijiworld.

When it comes to the general matters neither our Congress supporters nor our BJP friends will try to gain political momentum by giving these kinds of statements.

Therefore please learn to comment on what @ which circumstances.

Therefore atleast in these issues lets us brothers & sisters be united.

I am sure the younger generation of our coastal Karnataka will continue to bring many more such laurels in the fields of sports, music, education etc., in the years to come. My best wishes to all those talented aspirants.

Congratulations to Mamatha she made us Kannadigas pround infront of nation n whole world. Mayor Bhanu is leading by example by welcoming her with garland. This is the way it should they deserve lots of praise. We are bothered only about Cricketors, Hockey n Kabaddi is neglected by both state n central govt. I hope DVS will give her 5 lacks what he promised. Must give her a good plot in prime location to build a good house suitable for practice daily. Mamata Poojary comes from a poor family. I hope she will get good sponsors who can bear her training expences.

when India won Cricket world cup last year Our Govt has gone to the extent of offering lands to the cricketers and naming some roads after them even though there was not a single player from Karnataka in world cup winning Team . In a way its a good move ,atleast the govt has taken some initiative to appreciate the cricketers but now the womens Kabbadi team has won the World cup and specially Karnatka Girl Mamatha is world cup winning captian . I seriously feel she deserves much more than what our govt has announced for the Cricketers. I Think Our Govt should look into the matter seriously to honor Mamatha.Every sports should get same kind of treatment as every Athlete is working hard for victory of his/her Nation .

Once gain Congratulations Mamatha .Jai hind .
