Madikeri, May 8: In a tragic incident, a private bus driver died after reportedly suffering a heart attack while driving a bus from Bengaluru to Kukke Subrahmanya via Sullia in the early hours of May 8 near Katikeri close to Madikeri.
The deceased has been identified as Shivakumar.
According to sources, the private bus had departed from Bengaluru on Thursday night and was proceeding towards Kukke Subrahmanya with passengers on board.

While negotiating a curve near Katikeri in the early morning hours, Shivakumar is believed to have suffered a sudden heart attack, causing the bus to go out of control.
However, in a final attempt to prevent a major tragedy, the driver reportedly managed to steer the vehicle towards the roadside before it rammed into a mud embankment and came to a halt.
Shivakumar died in the driver’s seat before help could arrive.
Fortunately, all passengers on board escaped unharmed.
Locals and police personnel rushed to the spot soon after the incident. Authorities suspect that the driver’s timely action in diverting the bus helped avert a major accident and saved the lives of several passengers.
