Mangaluru, May 9: Police have arrested an accused who had been absconding for the past five years in connection with several criminal cases registered at different police stations under the Mangaluru City police commissionerate limits.

The arrested accused has been identified as Biju alias Vijay, a resident of Rayikatte in Bangra Kuloor.

According to police, the accused was wanted in cases related to communal violence and conspiracy to commit robbery registered at Bunder, Kavoor, Urwa and Panambur police stations. He had reportedly been evading court proceedings since 2021.

As the accused failed to appear before the court despite repeated summons, the court had issued a non-bailable warrant against him.

Acting on the warrant, police traced and arrested the accused before producing him before the court. The court has remanded him to judicial custody.
