Mangaluru, May 11: Two-day international conference on ‘Recent Innovations in Computer Science (ICRICS) 2026’ was inaugurated on May 11 in the Seminar Hall of Srinivas Institute of Technology. The conference brought together academicians, researchers, faculty members, and students from various institutions across different nations.

The inaugural function was presided over by Dr Shrivasa Mayya D, principal of Srinivas Institute of Technology and president of the function. Dr Harivinod N, professor and head, intelligent computing and business systems, St Joseph Engineering College, attended the event as the chief guest.

The programme commenced with a warm welcome address delivered by Prof Daya Naik, HoD, AIML Department. Prof Sudharshan K, co-convener ICRICS-2026 and HoD, IS&E department, introduced the chief guest and highlighted his academic and research contributions.

During the inaugural session, Dr Vinayak V Rao, professor, department of AI&DS and convener of the conference, presented an overview of ICRICS 2026. Dr Vinayak V Rao highlighted that the conference had received an overwhelming response with nearly 220 research papers submitted by researchers and academicians from various colleges and institutions across different states, of India and other countries. reflecting the wide academic participation and research interest in emerging areas of computer science.

Addressing the gathering, chief guest Dr Harivinod N delivered an inspiring keynote speech centered on the ‘CCC Story’ — Curiosity, Consistency, and Character. He emphasized that these three qualities are essential for students, researchers, and professionals to achieve excellence in academics, innovation, and life. His motivational talk encouraged participants to cultivate a spirit of continuous learning, disciplined effort, and strong ethical values.

In his presidential address, Dr Shrivasa Mayya D emphasized the importance of focusing on small innovations that can create a significant impact on society and technology. He encouraged students and researchers to pursue creative ideas with dedication and consistency, stating that even minor innovations can lead to major transformations in the future.

The inaugural ceremony concluded with a formal vote of thanks proposed by Prof Reshma B from the computer science department, who expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, organizing committee members, Head of the departments, faculty, participants, and students for contributing to the success of the event.

The master of ceremony for the event was jointly conducted by Prof Spoorthi B from the computer science department and Prof Soumya from the information science department.

The conference aims to provide a platform for researchers and academicians to exchange innovative ideas, present research findings, and discuss advancements in the field of computer science and emerging technologies.
