Udupi, May 12: Udupi Sri Krishna Math continues to witness a huge influx of devotees every day. Despite the scorching summer heat, the temple administration has introduced several new arrangements to ensure convenience and comfort for devotees.
The unbearable heat in Udupi has not stopped devotees from visiting the Krishna Math, especially during the vacation season. Thousands of devotees arriving from different places were earlier forced to stand in long queues under the harsh sun while waiting for darshan.

To address this issue, the Paryaya Shiroor Math has installed permanent roofing along the queue line, providing much-needed shade for devotees. In addition, arrangements for cool beverages have also been made to help devotees cope with the heat.
These facilities have brought major relief to devotees who previously had to endure several hardships while waiting for darshan. Earlier, devotees had to struggle for long hours to get a glimpse of the deity, but now a direct darshan arrangement has been introduced through the Kanaka Mantapa route.
Apart from roofing and drinking facilities, special arrangements have also been made for quick darshan during emergency situations. These improvements are benefiting not only tourists but also local devotees.
Speaking about the arrangements, Shiroor Math Diwan Uday Kumar Saralattaya said that the new facilities have made the darshan experience much easier and more comfortable for devotees. Despite the intense summer heat, the number of devotees visiting the temple has remained unaffected.
Uday Kumar Saralattaya said that efforts were being made to bring better discipline and comfort to the darshan system at Krishna Math. “There is a traditional sequence for taking darshan at the temple. Devotees first worship Lord Krishna through Kanakana Kindi, then proceed to Chandramouleshwara and Anantheshwara temples before taking darshan again through the Navagraha Kindi of Lord Sri Krishna. We have now organized separate queue systems for VIPs and locals,” he explained.
Uday Kumar Saralattaya further said that local devotees who visit the temple regularly had requested a more convenient arrangement, as waiting in long queues daily was difficult for them. In response, the temple administration is introducing an identification card system for local devotees. “After verification, local devotees will be allowed entry through a separate arrangement. The card will be issued at a minimal cost, and strict measures such as thumb impressions and face verification will be implemented to prevent misuse,” he added.
Uday Kumar Saralattaya also said that fans and beverage facilities have been arranged along the queue lines and requested local devotees to visit the temple between 2 pm and 5 pm to avoid crowd congestion during peak hours.
Overall, the newly introduced arrangements at Udupi Sri Krishna Math are proving highly beneficial for devotees, with expectations of further improvements in the coming days.
