Kasargod, May 13: A doctor hailing from Perla had a narrow escape after a tree and an electric pole came crashing down on his moving car due to sudden, unseasonal summer winds and rain. The incident occurred near the Maniyampare mosque on the Badoor-Perla road on the evening of Tuesday, May 12.
The doctor runs clinics in Seethangoli and Badoorpadavu.

He had reportedly closed his clinic early that evening to attend a programme. As he was driving along the Badoor-Perla stretch, a massive tree uprooted by the fierce winds collapsed onto his vehicle, bringing down an electric pole along with it. Fortunately, the doctor survived the frightening ordeal without any severe injuries, averting a major tragedy.
The collapse caused live electrical wires to snap and scatter across the width of the road, posing a severe danger and halting traffic. Local residents quickly rushed to the spot and engaged in a timely rescue and clearing operation to ensure safety and clear the route.
