Woman dies, two injured in early morning house fire at Kheratwada in Chodan

Panaji, May 17: A 55-year-old woman lost her life and two others were critically injured after a fire broke out in a residential house at Kheratwada in Chodan early Saturday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Sapna Dayanand Valvaikar. According to initial reports, the blaze started suddenly in the hall of the family’s slab house while the residents were asleep, quickly filling the home with thick smoke.

The fire is believed to have caused severe smoke inhalation, leaving two other family members unconscious. They were rushed to Goa Medical College and Hospital (Goa Medical College and Hospital), where they are currently receiving treatment.

Officials said the exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined. Authorities have launched an investigation to assess the circumstances that led to the incident, including possible electrical or accidental causes.
