4 killed in shooting attack in Turkey’s Mersin

Ankara, May 18: At least four people were killed and eight others injured in a shooting attack in Mersin in southern Turkey on Monday, according to local media reports.

News agencies DHA and IHA, cited by AFP, reported that the attacker first opened fire inside a restaurant, where at least two people were killed.

The remaining two deaths were reported from nearby locations during the incident.

Several injured persons were shifted to hospitals for treatment, though authorities have not yet disclosed their medical condition.

Following the attack, the suspect reportedly fled the scene in a car, prompting police to launch a large-scale search operation across the city.

Security agencies continued the manhunt while investigators worked to determine the motive behind the shooting.
