Bantwal, May 21: The construction of the Kadeshwalya–Ajilamogaru 'Soudhardha Setuve' (Harmony Bridge) has been completed and will be inaugurated soon, said former minister B Ramanatha Rai.

Speaking to reporters after inspecting the bridge at Kadeshwalya, Rai said the demand for a bridge connecting Kadeshwalya temple and Ajilamogaru dargah was first placed before the government during his tenure as minister. He said the then Siddaramaiah-led Congress government had sanctioned Rs 19 crore for the project.

Rai noted that the construction work was delayed after he lost his MLA position, but has now resumed and reached completion after the Congress government returned to power under Siddaramaiah’s leadership.

He said several developmental works, including land title distribution and major infrastructure projects, were implemented in the Bantwal constituency during the previous Congress regime. He also recalled that multiple initiatives and project inaugurations were carried out by the chief minister himself during that period.

Expressing satisfaction over the completion of the bridge, Rai said it was a matter of happiness that the project is now set to be inaugurated once again under the present Congress government. He added that the official opening will take place once approval is granted by the Public Works Department and the district in-charge minister.

Several local leaders and community representatives were present during the visit.
