Heavy security deployed as demolition drive resumes in Mumbai’s Bandra

Daijiworld Media Network - Mumbai

Mumbai, May 21: Western Railway authorities on Thursday resumed their anti-encroachment demolition operation in Mumbai’s Bandra area, a day after tensions escalated into violent clashes between protesters and police personnel.

The demolition drive was carried out in the Garib Nagar locality of Bandra (East) amid tight security arrangements and a heavy deployment of police forces to prevent any further unrest.

Officials maintained strict surveillance across the area as authorities continued removing alleged encroachments along railway land.

Thursday marked the third consecutive day of the demolition exercise, which has triggered protests from local residents and led to heightened tensions in the locality following Wednesday’s confrontation.
