Bantwal: Illegal cattle transport busted in Vittal, driver arrested

Bantwal, May 21: The Vittal police intercepted a pickup vehicle illegally transporting cattle at Panjarakodi in Kolnadu village on Thursday, May 21, arresting the driver and rescuing two cattle.

The arrested individual has been identified as Mohammed Haneef (44), a resident of Balepuni. According to the police, Haneef confessed during interrogation that he was transporting the cattle for slaughter without any valid permits.

Meanwhile, another accused, identified as Basheer, who was escorting the pickup vehicle in a Swift car, managed to escape. He allegedly drove the car recklessly, endangering the lives of the police personnel at the spot, before fleeing the scene.

The police have seized the pickup vehicle along with the two cattle. A case has been registered at the Vittal police station against Mohammed Haneef and the absconding accused Basheer, and further investigations are currently underway.
