Mangalore, Mar 13: A 26-year-old was brutally murdered by a group of unidentified assailants near Kannur checkpost here on Tuesday March 13.

The victim has been identified as Abdul Rahiman, alias Puttha alias Sanna Puttha, a resident of Boregudde here.

The incident took place between 6.40 and 7 pm. Puttha had gone out to play, and on his way back was confronted by the group who attacked and hacked him to death with a sword.

However, the incident came to light some minutes later, when a passerby noticed his body lying at the spot and informed the police.

Domestic or internal rivalry is said to be the motive behind the murder. Sources said that police suspect Puttha's neighbour Isaaq of being involved in the crime.

Puttha had eight criminal cases against him, including attempt to murder, theft, possessing ganja and other petty cases, in Ullal, Pandeshwar and Kankanady rural police stations. He was recently released on bail, and was in fact warned of a threat to his life.

Circle inspector Ravish Nayak and sub-inspector Somayya along with other policemen rushed to the spot.

Kankanady rural police have registered a case and investigations are on.

I get amused when i read comments like "whats happening to our mangalore" or" its becoming a goond city"!! This is not new dear readers. Murders and gang wars have been going on for years in mangalore. It is now due to electronic media we are getting the news. Priorly these news used to be published in our daily newspapers like Udayavani & evening paper karavali ale!!

When a city or nation grows..crime also grows!! Criminals often have good business in developing cities / nations!! Live with it without dragging mangalore name for everything! It happens everywhere!!

    Well said Mohammed Ashraf, Udupi/Dubai

Partition of the country, atrocities on Hindus, communal violence, terrorism, Love Jihad etc. etc....the sin pot has become full.

Now, these people started killing each other, as it happens among robbers while distrubuting the bounty among themselves.

The natural justice will take over the legal system.

Now, at least some people in Pakistan have realised and have welcomed Shri Shri Ravishankar.

The same thing will happen in India.

    To all my brothers,

make sense in what I have said.

We have very lenient law in our country which is of no use to stop these crimes. Irrespective of any religion, He should be punished in way that will set an example as to others before doing a crime.
Understand this brothers. We should think overall of our whole humanity not just individual.
At the most in any crime, people dont get a true justice from this law.

This killing seems to be confusing. Puttha had gone to play and on his way his way back was hacked to death by a group with a sword. He was a most terrific criminal as he had several records and he he deserved that death as he must have troubled and looted and maybe killed in his reign of terror. I do not know why this guy with so many criminal records was out on the streets. Good riddance as he could have been a terror to the people around.

Come on Mr. ismail, you always write very sensibly dont ruin that being in Saudi Arabia why think of a Saudi Law, which is actually a criminal law, no justice you are aware of it what is going on in KSA lets not follow that the law will take its own course, then the guy who did this should follow is it? then there wont be a full stop, the victim has not killed anybody, for his crime as they say petty they should have punished him accordingly

One who lives by sword dies by sword. Recently Mangalore has become a haven for underworld and rowdies. This is purely due to the influx of outsiders. Law and order situation has gone to worse from bad... needs night patrolling and tough measures to curb the crime. Security of citizens should be top priority... We cant afford live in insecurity and slavery...
