Ranchi, May 22: Indian sprinters Animesh Kujur and Gurindervir Singh produced sensational record-breaking performances at the Federation Cup Athletics in Ranchi on Thursday, rewriting the national men’s 100m record within a span of a few minutes.
Gurindervir Singh clocked 10.17 seconds in his semifinal heat of the 100m event, breaking the previous national record of 10.18 seconds set by Animesh Kujur last year.

However, Kujur soon reclaimed the national mark by producing a stunning 10.15-second run in the second semifinal heat, registering a new personal best and creating a fresh national record.
Singh’s achievement briefly stood as the fastest time ever recorded by an Indian in the men’s 100m event before Kujur electrified the stadium with an even quicker sprint moments later.
The back-to-back record-breaking performances marked a significant moment for Indian athletics and highlighted the growing standards in sprinting at the national level.
