Brahmavar: Lokayukta sleuths crack down on taluk office, seize key tahsildar records

Brahmavar, May 25: Karnataka Lokayukta officials conducted a surprise raid at the Brahmavar taluk office in Udupi district on Sunday following public complaints alleging irregularities in the Tahsildar office.

The operation was carried out after obtaining a search warrant from the Bengaluru Lokayukta office and was conducted under the supervision of Mangaluru Lokayukta superintendent of police Dinesh Kumar.

The inspection team comprised Udupi Lokayukta DySP Halamurthy Rao, police inspectors Manjunath and Rajendra Nayak, Mangaluru Lokayukta Inspector Bharati, along with staff members from the Udupi and Mangaluru Lokayukta offices.

During the raid, officials inspected various sections of the tahsildar office and scrutinised pending files as well as records suspected to have been cleared in violation of established rules and procedures. Several important files and documents were reportedly seized for further investigation.

According to officials, a detailed report on the irregularities detected during the inspection will be submitted to the Lokayukta, based on which further legal action may be initiated against the officers and staff concerned.
