PM Modi congratulates Indian wrestlers for success at U23 Asian Championships

New Delhi, May 28: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday congratulated Indian wrestlers for their impressive performance at the 2026 U23 Asian Championships held in Da Nang.

In a post on social media, the Prime Minister praised both the Men’s Freestyle and Women’s Wrestling teams for winning the team titles at the championship.

Modi highlighted that the men’s freestyle wrestling team secured a record nine medals, including four gold medals, registering India’s highest-ever overall medal tally in the history of the championships.

He further stated that the women’s wrestling contingent also delivered an outstanding performance by winning 10 medals, including six gold medals.

The Prime Minister also appreciated the Greco-Roman wrestling team for achieving its best-ever overall medal tally at the championship with eight medals.

He said the achievements reflected the hard work, determination and dedication of Indian wrestlers and extended his best wishes to the athletes for their future competitions.
