Puttur: Man Stabs Two, Faces Murder Attempt Charge

Puttur, Mar 14: A man named Mohammed from Kempimajalu in Uppinangady in the taluk stabbed two youth on Tuesday March 13. The injured youth, identified as Riaz and Mohammed Tausif, got admitted into the hospital here. A case of murder attempt was also registered in Uppinangady police station in connection with this incident.

Mohammed’s daughter, Hannat (29), had eloped with her lover, Shabbir, recently. Mohammed was angry at the fact that some of Shabbir’s friends had played a role in the episode. When he saw Riaz, one of Shabbir’s friends, moving in his motor bike in Uppinangady, he stopped Riaz and stabbed him. Mohammed Tausif, who tried to save his friend, Riaz, was also stabbed. Both the youth suffered stab injuries near their necks.

Puttur rural police circle inspector, H Y Jagadish, is guiding the investigation.
