Vice president C P Radhakrishnan arrives in Mangaluru; offers special pooja at Dharmasthala

Beltangady, May 31: Vice president C P Radhakrishnan visited the Sri Manjunatha Swamy temple in Dharmasthala on Sunday, May 31, where he had darshan and offered a special pooja to the deity.

Following his temple visit, the vice president toured the Annapoorna dining hall to observe and gather information about the facility's ongoing arrangements. He subsequently met with dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade and held detailed discussions.

Saturday arrival and welcome

The vice president commenced his coastal tour by arriving in Mangaluru on Saturday aboard a special Indian Air Force aircraft. At the Mangaluru International Airport, he was warmly received by member of parliament Capt Brijesh Chowta, who welcomed him with a traditional coastal jasmine garland. Police commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy and deputy commissioner Darshan H V were also present to receive the dignitary.

From Mangaluru, he proceeded directly to Dharmasthala via helicopter. Upon landing at the helipad, he was welcomed on behalf of the kshetra by SDM Educational Institutions vice president D Surendra Kumar. Member of legislative council K Pratap Simha Nayak was also present for the reception. The vice president then stayed overnight at the Sri Sannidhi guesthouse ahead of his Sunday itinerary.

Stringent security measures

In view of the high-profile visit, tight security arrangements were deployed at both the Mangaluru airport and Dharmasthala. To ensure safety during his scheduled programmes, the deputy commissioner had issued an official order declaring a 'no-fly' and 'no-drone' zone for May 31. This restriction covers a 1,500-metre radius surrounding the Dharmasthala temple, as well as the 1,500-metre radius around the event venue at Renkedaguthu in Beltangady Kasaba village.
