Jaipur, Jun 2: A local BJP leader and former Scheduled Caste Morcha Mandal president, Ramavatar Aswal, was found dead under suspicious circumstances in Jaipur district, with family members alleging that he was murdered.
The 55-year-old, popularly known as Pappu, was discovered late Monday night inside his scrap warehouse near the Manoharpur bus stand. According to police, he was found lying in a pool of blood, while relatives claimed that his throat had been slit.

Personnel from the Manoharpur police station, along with a team from the Forensic Science Laboratory, visited the scene and collected evidence as part of the investigation. The body has been sent to NIMS Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
The incident sparked outrage among family members and local residents, who gathered outside the Manoharpur police station on Tuesday and staged a protest demanding the immediate arrest of those responsible for the killing.
According to Station House Officer Surendra Singh, preliminary findings suggest that an unidentified individual visited the warehouse on Monday night and allegedly attacked Aswal with a sharp-edged weapon before fleeing the scene.
Police said Aswal had been at his warehouse during the evening. When he failed to return home, concerned family members went looking for him and found him seriously injured inside the premises. He was rushed to NIMS Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Following the incident, police summoned forensic experts to examine the crime scene and gather material evidence. Authorities have since cordoned off the warehouse and surrounding area while conducting a detailed investigation.
Investigators are also reviewing CCTV footage from nearby locations to identify potential suspects and reconstruct the sequence of events leading to the death.
The murder has sent shockwaves through the Manoharpur area, drawing large numbers of villagers and supporters to the scene. Additional police personnel have been deployed to maintain order, while efforts continue to trace and apprehend those involved.
Police officials said all angles are being examined, and further action will depend on forensic findings, post-mortem results and evidence collected during the ongoing investigation.
