CFAL tops Dakshina Kannada in JEE Advanced 2026; 36 qualify, three in top 1,000

Media Release

Mangaluru, June 2: Thirty-six students from the Centre for Advanced Learning (CFAL), Mangaluru, have qualified in JEE Advanced 2026, earning eligibility to participate in the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counselling process for admission to the IITs.

Of the 36 qualified students, three secured ranks within India’s top 1,000 among approximately 1.87 lac registered candidates. They are Abhhi Sannayya (AIR 558), Rishon Fernandes (AIR 621), and Mrinal D Bhat (AIR 885).

Result that spans the full rank spectrum

A notable feature of this year’s results is the consistency of performance across the batch. Strong performances were seen not only among the top rankers but across the batch, with five students securing ranks within the top 1,500, nine within the top 5,000, and 15 within the top 10,000.

This pattern is consistent with CFAL’s JEE Main 2026 results earlier this year, in which 25 students scored above the 99 percentile and 52 students scored above the 97 percentile.

Building success early: Foundation program impact in JEE 2026

Another key highlight is the strong representation of Foundation Program students among top rankers. This reflects the impact of CFAL’s Foundation Program, which offers four specialised pathways—from basic sciences to artificial intelligence—for students from Grades 7 to 10.

The program builds conceptual strength and advanced problem-solving ability, forming a strong foundation for exams like JEE Mains and Advanced and national-level Olympiads.

What these ranks mean?

A rank within the top few thousand in JEE Advanced provides students with a wide range of choices among IITs and academic programs through the JoSAA counselling process.

Strong JEE Advanced performance is also recognised by several international universities and may strengthen applications to institutions in countries such as Singapore and Germany. (Admissions abroad remain holistic and depend on board marks, language proficiency, and university-specific requirements; the JEE rank is one supporting element.)

In addition, top ranks also open pathways to premier research institutions in India, including IISc and the IISERs.

At a regional level, CFAL's JEE Advanced results demonstrate that students from Dakshina Kannada can compete successfully on the national stage. For students and families considering options for JEE preparation, these outcomes offer a clear indication of the academic support, mentorship, and learning environment available at CFAL.

Voices behind the outcomes

“We are proud of our students, and equally proud that the result is spread across the batch. Most of them have been with us for several years, many since the Foundation Program. This is what consistent, concept-based teaching looks like over time. We focus on understanding rather than memorisation, and we track each student individually so that no one is allowed to slip through. The depth of this year’s result is the outcome of that approach.”

The Academic Team, CFAL

“CFAL gave me a lot of freedom and control over how I studied. They listened to my suggestions and took prompt action. That really helped me in my journey.”
Rishon Fernandes, AIR 621 - JEE Advanced 2026

I was able to achieve my rank because I always tried to make learning fun, and pushed the boundaries of my understanding of the subject matter, and tried to understand it fully.”
— Lauren M Patrao, AIR 1338 - JEE Advanced 2026
