No Intention to Defame Anyone: Sheila Dikshit

New Delhi, Mar 15 (IANS): With Delhi BJP chief Vijender Gupta threatening to sue for defamation, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit said Thursday she had not intended to defame anyone.

"Let them (BJP) say whatever they want to... but I had no intention to defame anyone" Dikshit told IANS.

She said her remarks were based on hearsay.

"Why would I defame anyone? I have said whatever I heard."

On Monday, Diskhit had charged that NGO Sampurna being run by Gupta's wife Shobha Vijender had filed a false affidavit.

Dikshit also charged the NGO with receiving huge sums of money from Municipal Corporation of Delhi and the state government and not being able to account for the manner in which it had been spent.

Reacting to Dikshit's allegations, Gupta had said: "I am not a member of the NGO. I have nothing to do with it. I have an independent identity. The allegations are totally baseless. I will send a letter to her asking her to tender an apology. If she does not, then I will file a defamation case."
