Lisbon, Jun 8: India's gang rivalry appears to have extended beyond national borders, with an associate of the Sunil Meena gang claiming responsibility for two alleged shooting incidents in Portugal targeting an Indian national.
According to a viral social media post attributed to Rahul RK Meena, multiple rounds of gunfire were fired at the alleged hideout of Gurpreet Singh Gill in Vila Nova de Milfontes, Portugal. Unverified reports circulating online claimed that between 15 and 20 rounds were fired during the incident.
A video and an audio clip that surfaced on social media purportedly show individuals claiming responsibility for the shooting. However, the authenticity of the material has not been independently verified.

The post further alleged that the Sunil Meena gang was also behind an earlier shooting in Portugal's Sintra region on May 6, which reportedly targeted Gill. The incidents were described as warning shots directed at rival gang members.
In the viral message, the individuals claiming responsibility warned that future attacks would be more serious and alleged that rival gang members were attempting to flee Portugal to avoid retaliation.
The post further claimed that members of the rival group would continue to be pursued internationally and would not be able to escape retribution.
Portuguese law enforcement authorities have not issued any official statement confirming either of the alleged shootings or the identities of those said to be involved.
None of the claims contained in the social media post have been independently verified, and the authenticity of the viral video, audio recording and accompanying allegations remains under scrutiny.
The reports have nevertheless raised concerns over the growing international reach of India-origin criminal networks and the possibility of gang rivalries spilling over into foreign jurisdictions. Authorities have yet to confirm whether any formal investigation has been launched into the alleged incidents.
