IMD predicts monsoon to intensify in DK from Jun 10 amid scattered rains

Mangaluru, Jun 9: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast that the monsoon is likely to intensify across Dakshina Kannada (DK) district from June 10, with widespread rainfall expected in the coming days.

Cloudy weather prevailed across Mangaluru city and the district from Monday morning, with fluctuating conditions bringing scattered showers to several parts of the region.

By evening, parts of Beltangady, Sullia and Puttur received fairly good rainfall, while moderate showers were reported in Mangaluru, Ullal, Bantwal and Mulki taluks.

From Sunday morning to Monday morning, the district recorded an average rainfall of 10.5 mm. Taluk-wise rainfall figures were: Beltangady – 9.4 mm, Bantwal – 7.8 mm, Mangaluru – 4.3 mm, Puttur – 11.3 mm, Sullia – 5.3 mm, Moodbidri – 2.3 mm, Kadaba – 27.3 mm, Mulki – 4.1 mm and Ullal – 10.4 mm.

The IMD further indicated that good rainfall is likely across the region until June 12 as monsoon activity strengthens.
