New Delhi, Jun 9: India pacer Mohammed Siraj has been ruled out of the upcoming T20I assignments against Ireland and England after being granted a scheduled break as part of his workload management programme, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on Tuesday.
The national selectors have named fast bowler Prasidh Krishna as Siraj’s replacement for the white-ball tour, with the decision aimed at ensuring the senior pacer remains fresh for a demanding international calendar ahead.

In an official statement, the BCCI said the move was taken following consultations between the team management and the board’s medical staff. The board emphasised that the decision was precautionary and intended to provide Siraj adequate recovery time before the start of a busy season.
Prasidh returns to the T20I setup after an impressive campaign in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. Representing the Gujarat Titans, the right-arm seamer claimed 16 wickets in 12 matches and played a key role in the team's bowling attack.
The 30-year-old has featured in five T20 Internationals for India, picking up eight wickets. His most recent appearance in the format came against Australia in Guwahati in November 2023.
Apart from the T20I series, Prasidh has also been included in India’s squad for the three-match ODI series against Afghanistan, which begins on June 13.
India will enter the T20I series under new leadership, with Shreyas Iyer taking over captaincy duties from Suryakumar Yadav. Tilak Varma has been appointed vice-captain as the team begins preparations for a packed schedule that includes overseas assignments and major tournaments.
One of the biggest talking points in the squad is the inclusion of 15-year-old batting prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. If selected in the playing XI, he could become the youngest cricketer to represent India in international cricket.
The tour will begin with two T20Is against Ireland in Belfast on June 26 and June 28. India will then travel to England for a five-match T20I series scheduled between July 1 and July 11.
The series forms part of India's preparations for the Men's T20 competition at the Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan, later this year.
India's updated squad for the Ireland and England T20I series: Shreyas Iyer (captain), Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan, Shivam Dube, Tilak Varma (vice-captain), Nitish Kumar Reddy, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Varun Chakaravarthy, Ravi Bishnoi, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, Prince Yadav, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Prasidh Krishna.
