Mangaluru, Jun 10: A spell of heavy rain on Wednesday once again exposed the persistent waterlogging problem on Bajpe Road, causing severe inconvenience to commuters and residents. Rainwater accumulated rapidly on several sections of the road, making movement challenging for both vehicles and pedestrians.

Despite the downpour lasting only for a short duration, large volumes of water stagnated on the roadway. Motorists were forced to navigate cautiously through the submerged stretch, while pedestrians struggled to cross the area safely.

The sudden flooding has raised serious questions about the preparedness of the civic authorities ahead of the monsoon season. Frustrated residents have urged the departments concerned to take immediate steps to clear the choked drains, improve the drainage system, and prevent further waterlogging.

With the monsoon gaining strength across the coastal region, locals fear that heavier rainfall in the coming days could worsen the situation if permanent remedial measures are not implemented at the earliest.
