Beltangady: Kabaddi national referee Akhil Kumar passes away

Beltangady, Jun 13: Akhil Kumar (49), a national kabaddi referee and physical education teacher at PM Shri Model School, Beltangady, passed away due to illness at a private hospital in Ujire on June 12.

A resident of Gerukatte, Akhil Kumar was well known in sports circles for his contributions to kabaddi and physical education.

He is survived by his wife Jyothi Akhil Kumar, a teacher, along with a daughter and a son.

Apart from his teaching profession, he had served as sports secretary of the State Government Employees' Association and as president of the Taluk Grade-II Physical Education Teachers' Association.

His demise has been mourned by colleagues, students, sportspersons, and members of various organisations.
