Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman visits prominent temples in Udupi

Udupi, Jun 13: Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman visited several prominent religious centres in Udupi district and offered prayers on June 13.

During her visit, minister Nirmala Sitharaman paid obeisance at the Sri Krishna Matha in Udupi, the Kapu Hosa Marigudi Temple in Kaup, and the Mahalakshmi Temple in Uchila. She participated in special poojas and religious rituals and also learned about the traditions and customs followed at these temples.

Union finance minister and cabinet minister Nirmala Sitharaman visited Sri Krishna Math, Udupi, and offered prayers to Lord Krishna. She received phala mantrakshate from the Paryaya Peethadhipathi of Paryaya Sri Shiroor Math, Sri Vedavardhana Theertha Swamiji.

On the occasion, she also inaugurated the newly constructed kitchen facility (Paayada Kone) built for preparing offerings (naivedya) to the deity at Sri Krishna Math.

Present during the event were Uday Kumar Saralattaya, diwan of Sri Shiroor Math; Shrish Bhat Kadekar, parupatyegar of the Math; Udupi MLA Yashpal Suvarna; Kapu MLA Gurme Suresh Shetty; and Madhukar Mudradi, along with other dignitaries.

Ahead of attending the BJP district training camp being held in Udupi, the union minister sought divine blessings at the temples. Members of the temple management committees and BJP leaders welcomed the minister and felicitated her during her visit.

Minister Nirmala Sitharaman also interacted briefly with local residents and expressed appreciation for the rich religious and cultural heritage of Udupi district.
