Two killed in Israeli strike on southern Gaza despite ceasefire

Daijiworld Media Network - Gaza City

Gaza City, Jun 14: At least two people were killed and another injured in an Israeli strike in southern Gaza on Sunday, according to Palestinian authorities.

Officials said the attack targeted an area in the southern part of the enclave, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to a third person. The identities of the victims were not immediately disclosed.

The latest incident comes despite an ongoing ceasefire, with Palestinian authorities alleging that Israeli military operations and strikes have continued across parts of Gaza on a near-daily basis.

Israeli authorities did not immediately comment on the reported strike or the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The ceasefire, aimed at reducing hostilities and facilitating humanitarian relief efforts, has largely held in recent weeks. However, sporadic attacks, military operations and allegations of violations by both sides have continued to fuel tensions in the conflict-hit region.

The Gaza Strip has witnessed repeated cycles of violence over the years, resulting in significant casualties, displacement and damage to civilian infrastructure.

Further details regarding the latest strike and the condition of the injured person were awaited.
