New Delhi, June 14: A routine divorce hearing in a Delhi court turned into an emotional reunion when a wife tore up divorce papers and rushed into her husband’s arms, abruptly ending a five-year-long legal battle marked by bitterness, heartbreak and prolonged litigation.
For nearly five years, Shikha and Saurabh had been locked in a bitter dispute over the future of their marriage. What began with wedding celebrations in 2020 gradually deteriorated into disagreements, allegations and a drawn-out court case, with the couple eventually standing on opposite sides of the courtroom seeking legal separation.
The prolonged litigation had taken a heavy emotional and financial toll on both families. Those familiar with the matter said Shikha’s father had reportedly spent much of his savings supporting the legal proceedings while also worrying about his daughter’s future.
The situation worsened when Shikha’s father suffered a heart attack. Due to financial constraints, the family initially admitted him to a government hospital. It was at this critical moment, despite the ongoing dispute, that Saurabh stepped in.
Upon learning about his father-in-law’s condition, Saurabh reportedly arranged for him to be shifted to a better-equipped private hospital in Gurugram, where he received timely treatment and later recovered. The gesture, made in the midst of a bitter legal conflict, ultimately became the turning point in the relationship.
The very next day, the couple appeared once again before the court for a scheduled hearing in their divorce case. Lawyers continued presenting arguments as they had done for years.
The turning point came when the judge asked Saurabh whether he still wished to proceed with the divorce. He reportedly looked towards Shikha and offered a faint smile before responding.
That brief moment proved decisive for Shikha.
