Mangaluru, Jun 15: Kankanady Town Police have arrested a 25-year-old accused who had been absconding for nearly two years after failing to appear before a court despite a warrant issued against him.

The arrested accused has been identified as Sohif (25), a resident of Kundala House, Adyar Kannur.

Police said Sohif is listed in the rowdy-sheeter register of Kankanady Town Police Station and is facing four criminal cases, including theft, assault and attempt to murder, registered at Kankanady, Panambur and Kadri police stations.

In connection with a case registered at Kankanady Town police station in 2021, the court had issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against him. However, the accused allegedly changed his residence and remained absconding without appearing before the court.

Acting on credible information, police personnel traced and arrested him from his residence in Kudroli.

Following the arrest, the accused was produced before the court for further legal proceedings.
