Moodubidire, Jun 15: Kamala Dodda (85), popularly known as the beloved 'Reels Ajji' of Tulunadu, passed away at a hospital in Mangaluru on Friday June 12, leaving behind a wave of grief among her admirers across coastal Karnataka.
A resident of Moodumarnad, Kamala Dodda had won the hearts of thousands on social media through her unique humorous style, cheerful expressions, and engaging content showcasing traditional Tulunadu culture. She had built a strong fan base across Instagram and Facebook, becoming a familiar face in the region’s digital space.

She was the wife of the late Doddanana Shetty of Marnaad and grandmother of Bolu Charitable Trust president Srinith Shetty Marnaad. She had undergone a leg surgery just days before her demise, but reportedly did not respond to treatment and breathed her last.
Kamala Dodda was widely appreciated for presenting the lifestyle, customs, and cultural traditions of the coastal region in a simple and relatable manner for the younger generation. Her content often reflected positivity, humour, and cultural pride, earning her immense popularity beyond Karnataka as well.
Her fame had also led her to the silver screen, where she acted in a key role in the upcoming Kannada film Shankarabharana, starring Bigg Boss winner Shine Shetty. However, she passed away before the film’s release, leaving fans deeply saddened.
