Udupi, Jun 16: St Mary’s English Medium School (SMES), Kannarpady held a farewell ceremony for the former correspondent, Fr Charles Menezes, at school premises on June 11. He was accorded a ceremonial reception by the school band at the entrance.
The programme commenced with a prayer song rendered by the student choir, followed by a graceful welcome dance presented by the students. Eunice Anchan extended a cordial welcome to the gathering through her welcome address.































The school magazine 'Marian Panorama' was formally released by the dignitaries. Helen, the editor of the magazine, introduced the publication and highlighted its significance.
A felicitation ceremony was then held in honour of Fr Charles Menezes, during which the citation was read by Vinaya Suvarna. A special wishing song conveying the good wishes and appreciation was presented by the teachers’ choir.
Leron Mathais of grade 9 spoke about Fr Charles Menezes’ tenure highlighting his dedication and inspirational leadership.
In his address to the students, Fr Charles Menezes expressed his gratitude to the institution for the support, love and affection he received during his tenure. He conveyed his best wishes to Fr Denis D’Sa on assuming the role of correspondent and thanked the management for their cooperation throughout his service.
This was followed by the presidential address delivered by Fr Denis D’Sa. He appreciated the efforts of everyone involved in organizing the programme and making it a memorable event. Quoting, “The generous may forget what they have given, but grateful people never forget what they have received.” He expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the contributions of Fr Charles Menezes and wished him success, happiness, and blessings in his new parish.
Vandana proposed the vote of thanks.
The ceremony concluded with the school anthem. The programme was compered by Aston Nathan Andrade of grade 10 and Poorvi Bhandary of grade 12.
