Kiran Pahal dominates women’s 400m as Indian Athletics Series concludes 12th leg in Surat

Surat, Jun 16: Haryana sprinter Kiran Pahal produced a commanding performance to win the women’s 400 metres event at the 12th leg of the Indian Athletics Series held in Surat on Tuesday.

The 25-year-old clocked 53.49 seconds to comfortably secure first place. Kiran had earlier recorded her season-best timing of 52.89 seconds at the Ludhiana leg of the competition. She represented India at the 2024 Summer Olympics and holds a personal best of 50.92 seconds in the event.

In the men's 400m race, Tamil Nadu athlete Pradeep S claimed the title with a timing of 48.41 seconds.

Haryana’s Naveen Kumar Dagar marked a successful return to competition after a lengthy absence by winning the men's 3,000m steeplechase in 9:09.80.

Delhi sprinter Charu Shoukeen emerged as the fastest woman in the 100m event, crossing the finish line in 12.29 seconds. Heeral Johri of Madhya Pradesh secured second place with 12.56 seconds, while Chaarvi Poojari of Uttar Pradesh finished third in 12.79 seconds.
