Kaup: Scooter rider seriously injured after bus collision at highway junction

Kaup, Jun 18: A scooter rider sustained serious injuries after an express bus collided with his vehicle near Sai Service Station on National Highway 66 in Kaup on Thursday morning, June 18.

According to reports, the accident occurred at the junction of the Kaup service road and the highway when an express bus travelling from Mangaluru towards Udupi on the service road collided with a scooter that was moving on the highway from the opposite direction.

The injured scooter rider has been identified as Ganesh Patri, a native of Sasihithlu in Mangaluru who is currently residing in Kaup.

Local residents shifted the seriously injured rider to a hospital in Udupi by ambulance.

After hitting the scooter, the bus mounted the divider and came to a halt, narrowly averting a major mishap.

Kaup police visited the spot and conducted an inspection.
