Mangaluru, Jun 18: The muhurat ceremony for the Tulu films 'Koragla Taniya' and 'Kana', produced and directed by Dr R Dhanraj under the Prarthana Creations banner, was recently held at the Kadri Sri Manjunatheshwara Temple.
MLA C B Suresh Babu switched on the camera for 'Koragla Taniya', while A J Shetty, managing director of Kadri Temple, sounded the clapboard. For the film 'Kana', director Vijayakumar Kodialbail switched on the camera, and veteran actor Suman Talwar showcased the film’s title board.

Speaking as the chief guest at the formal function held on the temple premises, multilingual actor Suman Talwar emphasised that the government should provide subsidies and tax exemptions to films that introduce local language, traditions, and culture to the world. "After the success of 'Kantara', many are attempting such projects. Director R Dhanraj earned a great reputation 20 years ago with 'Koti Chennaya'. Now, he is embarking on a similar journey with 'Koragla Taniya' and 'Kana'. The story is excellent, and I am also portraying a role in it," he said.
He further added that it is a matter of pride that films reflecting Tuluva culture are being produced in five to six languages.
JDS leader and Chikkanayakanahalli MLA Suresh Babu, who inaugurated the event by lighting the lamp, said, "Dr R Dhanraj is a talented director who has already delivered a National Award-winning film. May 'Koragla Taniya' also gain national recognition and work towards social reform through its story and music."
Director Vijayakumar Kodialbail noted that the Tulu film industry is currently facing difficult times and expressed hope that these two films would become milestones.
Producer and director Dr R Dhanraj stated, "These films will be released in six languages and carry a strong message. We need everyone's cooperation in this effort to spread the traditions of Tulunadu across the globe."
Dakshina Kannada District Janapada Parishad president Pammi Kodialbail, advocate Mohandas Rai, Sudhakar Moily, senior journalist Jagannath Shetty Bala, K Pushpa, Archana Shetty, Nagesh Shetty Mumbai, and others were present. Anchor Chethan Shetty hosted the program.
Dr R Dhanraj will handle the story, screenplay, dialogue, and direction for 'Koragla Taniya'. The film 'Kana' will be directed by Vishwanath Kodikal, who has also written the story, screenplay, and dialogues. Archana Shetty is the co-producer for both films.
