Milagres PU College holds grand student council inauguration and Investiture ceremony

Mangaluru, Jun 18: The inauguration of the student council and investiture ceremony for the academic year 2026–27 was held with great enthusiasm and grandeur at Milagres Pre-University College, Mangaluru, on June 16 in the college auditorium.

The programme commenced with a prayer service followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries, marking the formal inauguration of the student council. The event aimed at fostering leadership qualities, discipline, responsibility, and a spirit of service among the students.

The chief guest, Anil Lobo, chairman of MCC Bank, addressed the gathering and emphasised the importance of developing leadership skills alongside academic excellence. He encouraged students to take initiative, work as a team, and become responsible citizens capable of contributing positively to society.

The newly elected student council president, Zain Sheikh, vice-president Sinchana, secretaries, class representatives, and other office-bearers were formally invested with badges by the dignitaries. The principal, Melvin Vas, administered the oath of office, urging the student leaders to discharge their duties with sincerity, commitment, and integrity.

Presiding over the function, Fr Ivan Michael Rodrigues, correspondent of Milagres Educational Institutions, delivered the presidential address. He reminded the students that student life is not confined to academic learning alone but is also a golden opportunity to cultivate discipline, leadership, punctuality, responsibility, and character. He encouraged the newly elected leaders to become role models for their fellow students.

The programme was graced by the presence of Fr Dr Alwyn Serrao, campus director and principal of Milagres College, Fr Uday Fernandes, principal of Milagres Central School (CBSE), Dixon D'Souza, vice-president of the Milagres Church Pastoral Council, and Jacinta Fernandes, secretary of the Pastoral Council.

Cheryl Pinto, student council coordinator, welcomed the gathering. Lidwin Fernandes compered the programme. The vote of thanks was proposed by the student council president, Zain Sheikh.

The formal function was followed by a colourful cultural programme presented by the students. The event concluded with the college anthem, leaving the participants inspired and motivated for the academic year ahead.
