Udupi: BJP Concludes Public Campaigning with Padayatra

Udupi, Mar 17: The valedictory function of BJP’s campaigning for the bypoll of Udupi-Chikmagalor Lok Sabha seat, which was held here on Friday March 16, was marked by a grand Padyayatra which preceded the function.

The BJP leaders, who together walked through various streets and areas of the town like Kavi Muddana Marg, service bus stand and city bus stand, met the people and sought votes for their candidate, Sunil Kumar. The valedictory function was held later near Chittaranjan Circle.

The gathering was addressed by Mukhyamantri Chandru, and Dakshina Kannada MP, Nalin Kumar Kateel.

Udupi MLA, K Raghupati Bhat, MLC, Kota Srinivas Poojary, chairman of Coastal Development Authority, Nagaraja Shetty, BJP Udupi district president, Uday Kumar Shetty, leaders like Katapadi Shankar Poojary, N B Abubakker, Sudhakar Shetty and others participated in the Padyatra and the meeting held later.

Chief Minister, D V Sadananda Gowda, who was participating in various election-related programmes in the district and was to take part in the valedictory function, had to cut short his programmes and rush to his native place, after he received the news about the demise of his brother in law, Padmanabha Gowda, from Sullia. During the day, he had taken part in election campaigns at Katapadi, Kaup, and Hejamadi.
