Srinivas University IHMT successfully conducts five-day student development programme

Mangaluru, Jun 19: Srinivas University successfully organized a five-day Student Development Programme on “Holistic Growth: Life Skills, Professional Ethics and Personality Development” from June 15 to 19. The programme was jointly organized by the Institute of Hotel Management & Tourism, Department of Interior Design, Department of BSc Animation, and BA Mass Communication & Media Studies at the City Campus, Pandeshwar.

The programme commenced with an inaugural session by Shubham, lecturer, Yenepoya Institute of Arts, Science, Commerce and Management (YIASCM), who delivered an insightful talk on “Holistic Competence Development and Soft Skills for Future Leaders.”

On the second day, Sachitha Nandagopal, honorary member of the Juvenile Justice Board, Dakshina Kannada, addressed the students on “Growing Beyond Academics: Shaping Confident, Ethical and Future-Ready Professionals,” emphasizing values, emotional well-being, and leadership.

The third day featured Akshatha Shetty, assistant professor, Department of MCA, St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru, who spoke on “Adaptability: Accepting Changes in Profession and Life,” encouraging students to embrace change and continuous learning.

On the fourth day, Prof Nandakishore S, associate professor, Government First Grade College for Women, Puttur, conducted a motivating session on “The Road Ahead: Be Professional,” focusing on professionalism, communication skills, and career readiness.

The valedictory session was led by Deepak Raj, manager – Risk Investigations, Amazon Development Centre, Bengaluru, who delivered an engaging session on “The Professional Edge – Life Skills to be Corporate Ready,” highlighting corporate expectations, leadership, teamwork, and workplace competencies.

The programme was organized under the guidance of Prof B Prashanth Prabhu, dean, Institute of Hotel Management & Tourism, and coordinated by Prof Bhagyashree, Prof Roopesh C, Prof Prakyath, and Prof Sushmitha. Faculty members and students from various departments of IHMT actively participated in the programme, making it a valuable platform for enhancing life skills, professional ethics, leadership qualities, and career preparedness among students.
