PM-VBRY creates 70 lac jobs, says PM Modi

New Delhi, Jun 20: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said that around 70 lakh jobs have been created so far under the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PM-VBRY), with nearly 20 lakh youths completing six months in their first jobs.

Addressing the incentive disbursal programme under PM-VBRY, the Prime Minister said around 10 lakh first-time employees have received incentives after completing the six-month milestone, with more than Rs 2,000 crore credited directly into their bank accounts.

“This amount is not just economic support, it is a recognition of their hard work. It is an expression of the country’s trust in their bright future,” Modi said.

The PM-VBRY, which came into effect on August 1, 2025, aims to support the creation of more than 3.5 crore jobs over a two-year period. The scheme has been allocated a total financial outlay of Rs 99,446 crore.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), around 1.92 crore beneficiaries under the scheme are expected to be first-time entrants into the workforce. The initiative aims to expand formal employment, strengthen social security coverage and contribute towards the vision of a Viksit Bharat by supporting both employees and employers.

Under the scheme, first-time employees are eligible for incentives of up to Rs 15,000, while employers creating additional employment opportunities can receive incentives of up to Rs 3,000 per month for every additional employee.

The Prime Minister also appreciated institutions that have provided employment opportunities to young people and said India’s youth power will play a leading role in global growth, innovation and entrepreneurship.

Modi said nations that develop skilled talent, encourage innovation and maintain high-quality standards will have greater opportunities in the 21st century. He added that the aspirations, skills and potential of India’s youth will shape the journey towards a developed India.

Highlighting India’s startup ecosystem, the Prime Minister said the country has grown from having around 500 startups to more than 2 lakh registered startups operating across almost every district.

He also referred to his recent visit to France and the successful “India Innovates” event, which brought together Indian startups and global investors in emerging sectors including Artificial Intelligence, space technology, green energy and biotechnology.

Modi said the global community has increasing confidence in India’s young population and its ability to drive future innovation and economic growth.
