Calangute, Jun 22: The Calangute Traffic Police conducted a special enforcement drive against illegally rented private four-wheelers operating with white number plates and seized five vehicles during the operation.

The action was aimed at curbing the unauthorised use of private vehicles for commercial passenger transport, which authorities said violates transport regulations and impacts the legitimate rent-a-cab industry.

Members of the Rent-a-Cab Association were also present during the drive and supported the authorities as inspections were carried out at various locations across the Calangute area.

Police officials said strict action against illegal transport operations will continue to ensure compliance with existing rules and regulations.

Meanwhile, the Calangute Police are continuing nakabandi operations across the coastal belt. As part of the ongoing checks, authorities are taking action against motorists found driving under the influence of alcohol.
