Mangaluru: International Yoga Day celebrated in Lourdes Central School

Mangaluru, Jun 22: Lourdes Central School celebrated International Yoga Day in the Summit Hall with great enthusiasm and simplicity. The programme commenced with a prayer song sung by the students of grade VIII C and D. The gathering was welcomed by Vedant and Rayyan from grade VIII. This was followed by the lighting of the lamp, symbolizing the beginning of a new journey filled with knowledge, health, and positivity.

The programme was graced by the presence of the chief guest, Shrikanth S V, a renowned Yoga therapist, pranic healer, hypnotherapist, and NLP practitioner. He was accompanied by principal Fr Johnson L Sequeira, vice principal Anitha Thomas, academic coordinators Suneetha and Shanthi, and physical education teachers Veerendra Alva A and Vishwanath. Their presence added significance to the celebration and inspired the students to embrace the values of Yoga and holistic well-being.

Vice principal Anitha Thomas introduced the chief guest and highlighted his remarkable contributions and achievements in the field of yoga. The dignitaries felicitated the chief guest in recognition of his outstanding accomplishments and dedication to promoting the practice of Yoga.

The chief guest addressed the gathering and emphasized that Yoga is a beautiful practice that everyone should adopt in their daily lives. He explained that Yoga helps transform potential energy into kinetic energy and promotes balance in actions, thoughts, and words. He encouraged all students to practise Yoga regularly for a healthy and disciplined life.

Principal congratulated the students of grades VIII C, VIII D, III A, and III B for their efforts in organizing the programme. In his address, he highlighted that success in life requires a healthy body and a focused mind, both of which can be achieved through regular Yoga practice. He encouraged the students of grade III to make Yoga a daily habit and advised the students of grade 8 to continue practising Yoga to face future challenges with confidence.

The chief guest also demonstrated various Yogasanas and exercises, including eye rotation, wrist rotation, Tadasana, Pranayama, and Shavasana. The students actively participated and learned the importance of these practices for physical and mental well-being.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Vanya and Panini of grade VIII, expressing their gratitude to the chief guest, dignitaries, teachers, and students for making the celebration meaningful and successful.
