Mangaluru: St Aloysius College celebrates International Yoga Day

Mangaluru, Jun 22: International Yoga Day was celebrated at St. Aloysius College Higher Primary School, Kodialbail on June 20 in the school auditorium. The students participated enthusiastically in the programme. Francis Vincent Lobo, physical education teacher, highlighted the importance of yoga and emphasized that yoga is not merely a form of physical exercise but a way of life that harmonizes the mind, body, and soul.

The chief guest for the day was Kavitha Ashok, a distinguished yoga instructor who has carved a remarkable niche for herself through her talent, dedication and unwavering commitment.

Serving as a yoga instructor at various educational institutions across Mangaluru, she has acquired extensive expertise in the field of yoga through the YIC course at VYASA Vivekananda University, Bengaluru. Her outstanding accomplishments include winning the prestigious Yoga Champion of Champions title at the State Level in 2004 and securing first place at the International Level in 2007, bringing honour and recognition to the nation.

Her extraordinary feat of holding Padma Shirshasana continuously for 29 minutes and 6 seconds earned her a place in the India Book of Records on March 23, 2023, reflecting her determination, perseverance and exceptional yogic excellence.
A devoted disciple of the internationally renowned Yoga Guru V L Rego, Kavitha Ashok continues to spread the light of yoga by imparting her knowledge and skills to hundreds of students under her expert guidance.

In her motivational and inspiring address, the chief guest enlightened the students about the significance of yoga and guided them in performing various yogasanas and breathing techniques. The students actively participated in the session with great zeal and enthusiasm.

The programme was compered by Arun Baptist, physical Education teacher, who efficiently conducted the proceedings. He also proposed the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all those who contributed to the success of the event and appreciated the students for their enthusiastic participation.
