Beltangady, Jun 23: A KSRTC bus veered off the road and climbed onto a divider near a private educational institution in Halepete, Beltangady, on Monday afternoon.

The Super-Fast bus, belonging to the Mangaluru division and travelling from Mangaluru to Dharmasthala, rammed onto the highway divider with such force that more than 10 metres of the divider was completely damaged.

The iron safety barricade and a streetlight pole were shattered in the impact. An iron rod from the barricade pierced through the front portion of the bus, entering near the driver's steering wheel and extending up to the second seat behind him.

Fortunately, no casualties were reported as the bus was carrying only a few passengers at the time of the accident. Beltangady traffic police visited the spot and conducted an inspection.
