CFAL opens applications for Pragathi: Free two-year support program for govt school students

Media Release

Mangaluru, Jun 23: CFAL, Mangaluru, has opened applications for the next cohort of its Pragathi program: a completely free two-year academic support initiative for class 11 students from government schools. The program supports motivated students preparing for major entrance examinations, including KCET, NEET, NDA, CUET (UG), and ICAR AIEEA (UG), as well as board examinations, through weekend tests, paper discussions, mentoring and sustained performance tracking.

The premise is simple: talent is widely distributed, but opportunity is not. Many capable students in government institutions have the ability to excel but lack access to structured evaluation and consistent guidance. Pragathi exists to close that gap and at no cost to the student.

How the Program Works

Pragathi is not a content-teaching program. There is already an abundance of learning material available online and in schools. What students often lack is a way to know whether they have truly understood it. Pragathi is built to answer that question, week after week.

Each weekend, students sit for a test. The data from that test reveals exactly what each student does not yet know. CFAL then clarifies those specific topics, ensuring that gaps are addressed before students move on. The method is designed to ensure students are learning regularly, have understood the concepts covered that week, and steadily build on them. This ensures that understanding compounds over the two years rather than fragmenting.

The program runs primarily on weekends, involving roughly eight hours of academic engagement each week through tests, discussions and mentoring sessions.

Proven Outcomes

Students who came through the Pragathi support system have shown what sustained guidance can do:

• Ashel Jasline Pais — Qualified in NEET 2025 (score 432)
• Shrutha S Rai — 578 marks (96.6%) in II PUC
• S Jenifar — 573 marks (95.1%) in II PUC
• Vyasakrishna S Rao — 561 marks (93.5%) in II PUC
• Prashanth D M — 540 marks (90%) in II PUC

What Students Receive

Selected students receive free tests across class 11 and 12, detailed paper-discussion sessions after every test, academic mentoring and performance tracking, structured exposure to entrance-exam-style problem-solving across KCET, NEET, NDA, CUET (UG), and ICAR AIEEA (UG), and access to CFAL’s academic materials and methods built over years of competitive-exam preparation.

Eligibility and Selection

Applicants must be entering class 11 (PUC I) in the current academic year, be studying in a government institution, demonstrate academic potential, and be willing to participate consistently across the two-year duration.

Selection is merit-based. Students from government institutions can apply to CFAL with their Class 10 marks cards and a Statement of Purpose. Selection is then made on the basis of the Statement of Purpose together with class 10 results. Participation is completely free, but seats are limited.

An Invitation to Sponsors

While the Pragathi program is free for every student, sustained learning has real costs, such as books and study materials. Individuals and organisations who wish to sponsor books or online learning material for these students are warmly invited to reach out to CFAL. Such support directly strengthens a deserving student’s two-year journey.

A Voice from CFAL

“Many capable students do not lack talent; they lack timely academic support. Through Pragathi, our goal is to identify such students early and stand with them consistently through the two most important years of their academic journey,”- CFAL spokesperson
