Davanagere, Jun 24: A 20-year-old suspected terrorist from Uttar Pradesh, arrested in Harihar, has made shocking revelations during interrogation, confessing to a plot to detonate a bomb at the Sri Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, police sources revealed.
The suspect, identified as Suhail, was taken into custody under the Harihar Rural police station limits on Tuesday. During questioning, he reportedly admitted his terrifying plan to the investigating officers, stating, "I wanted to plant a bomb and blow up the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, the abode of the revered deity of crores of Hindus."

International terror links and sleeper cell disguise
A thorough examination of his mobile phone has exposed substantial clues pointing to his connections with an international terror network. Police discovered a contact saved as 'Rana Bhai' linked to a Pakistani country code.
Investigations further revealed that Suhail was an active member of secretive online groups promoting anti-national activities, such as ‘MEMON & JUTTU- 333’ and ‘RANABHAI 333’. His mobile phone gallery also contained several alarming photographs of him posing with lethal weapons, resembling a professional terrorist, alongside pictures of groups bearing Pakistani codes.
To evade suspicion, Suhail had been hiding in plain sight. He had secured a job as an ordinary painter at a factory in an industrial area adjacent to Harihar. However, the police, who were keeping a close watch on his activities, successfully conducted an operation to apprehend him.
Handed over for further probe
Preliminary investigations have confirmed that Suhail and his associates were conspiring to carry out large-scale subversive and anti-social activities across India to inflict mass casualties.
Following his arrest, an FIR was registered at the Harihar Rural police station.
The accused was handed over to the Tumakuru police on Tuesday evening for further extensive investigation.
